INNERT Non-Oxidizing silicon carbide (SiC)

FMM is pleased to announce a break-through with the development of a new generation of silicon carbide (SiC) material that does not oxidize in air, under pressure, and at high temperatures.

The new class of SiC is currently being used in aviation spark plugs, resulting in an order of magnitude increase in the life of jet engine spark plugs. The material maintains sparking at temperatures up to 1400°C under applied voltage.

Additional possible applications for our new SiC are as a protective coating in new MOX fuel reactors, heating elements in high temperature kilns and furnaces, diesel heater igniters, components in space exploration and as spark plugs in hydrogen cars.
